Review

A small doorway on Pelham Street yields a staircase that leads up to a two-floor spit and sawdust cocktail bar and blues club. Drinks are dispensed from a tiny bar tucked under the stairs.

The menu contains what might look like frightening combinations in the wrong hands - Campari and Patron XO, served up in a Martini cooler, say, or Amaretto with - well, we can't remember, but frankly Amaretto with anything... - are executed surprisingly well. There's also the cheekily named Barry Big Bollocks priced at £35.95 (Bowmore 25-year-old Scotch stirred to your preference with Punt e Mes and Noilly Prat), but with Nottingham's large student population and guests liable to count their change out as they pay for their drinks, we don't imagine that's a best-seller.

There's live blues practically every night. Don't expect a stage or speakers though - it's more along the lines of shoving aside the tables to make room. Upstairs there's another floor and a slightly larger bar.
