Review

The Voodoo Rooms occupies the same architecturally magnificent building as the Cafe Royal and comprises of five large rooms and three bars - The Bar & Dining Room, The Speakeasy and The Ballroom & Ballroom Bar. The Bar is open to all while the other areas are used for private parties and to stage live music and cabaret.

The room that the bar occupies retain their original ornate plasterwork and this has been painstakingly picked out in gold and white against black walls and ceiling to spectacular affect. Semi-circular button booth seats sit behind tables with mirrored tops to reflect that splendid ceiling.

There's a fabulous selection of spirits on the back bar with some of the prime picks featured on the menu with a short synopsis. Cocktails such as the Our Tai are superb and there's also some imaginative mixed drink suggestions such as 42 Below Feijoa with apple juice and cucumber slice, not to mention (you are in Scotland) Campari and Irn Bru. Don't miss the Les Paul cocktail, 'Like a battered, over used 40 year old guitar can give the sweetest twang...'
