Richard Bigg is one of London's established visionary bar owners and is at the forefront of the development of King's Cross' nightlife. Camino bar with its attached restaurant is Richard's second project in the area, after The Big Chill House.
Pronounced "cam-ee-no", meaning road or path, the name is a reference to Richard's intention to offer customers a journey of discovery through the authentic Spanish food and drinks this bar offers. This includes draught Sagres, Ambar 1900 pale ale, El Gaitero Spanish cider, brilliantly selected and exclusively Spanish wine list (with 15 wines by the glass), a broad sherry range, tapas and more substantial plates including Chuleton Basque-style rib-eye steak.
Camino sits in a quiet courtyard just a minute's walk from the rail station. The space is modern and in keeping with the Spanish theme, suitably colourful and bright. A 35-meter long, pewter topped bar dominates a bare brick walled room hung with enamel signs and bespoke murals of Spain. Over the D.J. decks is a large map of Spain on which patrons are encouraged to cover with snaps and postcards from their travels in the country.
