Formally called Cocoon, this bar was owned by Eddie Irvine of Formula One fame. 'Irv the Swerve' was a character on and off the track and with his playboy reputation this bar became something of a celebrity hangout. Cocoon closed earlier this year and reopened as Noo in May.
Little has changed decor wise so expect a club style interior with smoked mirrors behind the bar and red neon following the contours of the ceiling. Noo operates as a cafe bar by day but its decor was designed for decadent nights, not coffee and sandwiches. However, the side terrace on the quiet Lemon Street is a good spot to enjoy a summer's evening.
Fortunately it is not the decor but Aaron and his team behind the bar which make Noo worth a visit. Don't even bother looking at the old Cocoon cocktail list, put yourself in the capable hands and go off-piste. This was not only where I had one of the best Daiquiris in Ireland but also damn tasty Irish Coffee.
