Review

A dingy narrow backstreet traversing the corner between Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road is a fittingly seedy setting for a bar which celebrates gangsters, murders and the seedy side of life.

Don't let this put you off, the welcome is warm and friendly, the moodily-lit basement space homely and snug (a capacity of just 60), service impeccable, and the drinks killer – so an appropriate name after all.

This murderously good bar is by the experienced folk from the Cocktail Trading Company, hence the great service and tasty drinks.

Murder Inc. might be in London's West End but the drinks are a steel with "Freeloaders" cocktails, including mainstays such as Negroni, Daiquiri, and Tommy's a mere £6 until 7pm every day. The rest of the time, most cocktails are still under a tenner and of a quality worth twice the price.

Be sure to try the brilliant Frozen Banana Ramos which has become something of a signature drink for the bar (Jägermeister, banana milk, coconut cream, citrus, egg white and Guinness stout).

This must be the only bar in the world with Death In The Afternoon on tap. It's a tasty rendition on the classic with absinthe, ginger & agave sherbet and champagne.
