Review

Two huge underlit guardian crystals mark the entrance to Merkaba and as you walk between them from the MyHotel lobby you?ll be hit by this bar?s wow factor. Ten plasma screens displaying films and work from local artists line the wall behind a ten meter wide copper fronted bar counter with an eye-shaped aquarium built into the wall on either side. The curvy walls are made from stated hard wood while a pair of pewter columns rise out of the azure terrazzo floor to support two central high tables.

It's not just the decor that?s impressive. Bar veteran and Brighton local, Simon Warneford (better known as Ginger for obvious reasons) and his team have developed an imaginative range of cocktails while brilliantly executing classics such as my beloved Daiquiri. A satisfactory line up of lagers and pilsners and a fair wine selection complete an offering.

Merkaba is popular with stylish locals as well as weekend trippers so summer's weekends see this rather swanky bar packed with satisfied drinkers.
