The inaugural release of Arran Malt 12 year old cask strength. Aged in 100% sherry casks with a high proportion being first-fill Hogsheads, this limited release of 12,000 bottles was bottled in September 2011 at cask strength without chill-filtration.

The packaging and bottle label features bottling details including batch number, date of bottling and limited edition number.

Review and Tasting

Appearance:

(1st batch 09) Clear, pale amber with yellow gold highlights.

Aroma:

Pungent, delicately spiced baked apple and pear nose with light sherry, faint citrus, ripe peach skin and toasted oak.

Taste:

(diluted to approx. 43%) Powerful, tightly integrated and lightly fruity, spicy palate with buttery dry lightly smoked oak, burnt toast and more subtle flavours of leather, cinnamon and lemon zest.

Aftertaste:

Lengthily, smoked crispy bacon and spice finish turning salty.
