Brewed since 1955, this is reputed to be the first beer brewed in Tahiti. The label features a distinctly Tahitian 'vahine' (Tahitian for 'lady' or 'women') illustration making this beer almost a must serve in every Tiki bar. Originally stubby, the long neck bottle (pictured) was introduced in 1998.
Sampled before 1st May 2011
Clear, golden yellow.
Slightly metallic with a touch of raw beef/bouillon mix and red grapefruit zest.
More citrus zest notes come through on the slightly metallic palate.
Little lingering flavour.
