Eponymously named after the city in which it is brewed, Jever is the capital of the district of Friesland in Lower Saxony, Germany. The Frisian Brewhouse was established in 1848 adopting its hometown's name for its beer in 1934. Today, the brewhouse is the largest building in the city.
Sampled on 18/12/2011
Clear, bright pale golden with a minimal head which quickly fades.
A nose you might expect from a classic pilsner but with more pronounced hops and grassy/hay aromas.
Dry, bitter, hop dominated with malt notes fighting for attention. Flavour is a tad one-dimensional.
Bitterness lingers in the slightly metallic long finish.
