Aged 12 years, barrelled in 1999 and bottled in 2011, this release of Old Forester's Birthday Bourbon was blended from a 62 barrel batch of 99F11 which was matured in barrels made from Northern and Ozark white oak. These were stored in warehouses H and I, on their 1st and 6th floors respectively.
Old Forester Birthday Bourbon is released on 2nd September each year to commemorate the birthday of the founder of Old Forester, George Garvin Brown. Old Forester claims to be "America's First Bottled Bourbon" and the squat decanter-style bottle is apparently reminiscent of bottles used in 1800's when Old Forester was first produced.
