Rare Breed is Wild Turkey's "small-batch" barrel-proof bourbon (112.8 proof). It's a blend of six, eight and 12-year-old whiskies. Each batch is around 200 barrels (one barrel fills around 140 bottles).

Appearance:

(batch No. WT-03RB) Clear (with very slight sediment), coppery bronze.

Aroma:

Roasted nuts, rolling tobacco, black pepper, burnt sugar and pastry with chocolate, vanilla custard and overripe banana. With water more caramel fudge and mint emerges.

Taste:

Roasted brazil nut, walnut and dry peppery spiced oak with distinctive salty caramel. Notes of tobacco with faint mint. More buttery with water.

Aftertaste:

Roast nuts, dried fruit and fudge with white pepper and lingering nutty crème caramel.

Overall:

Dry, nutty and spicy with a distinctive saltiness. A Rare Breed indeed.
