Aged: No age statement
Product of: United States
The first rye whiskey to be made in New York State since prohibition - well legally anyway - Hudson Manhattan Rye Whiskey is pot-distilled from 100% rye grain, matured in small new oak casks in New York state.
Each hand-filled and numbered apothecary-style bottle is finished with a natural cork stopper and wax seal which must be cut with a knife to open. Bottled without chill filtration.
There is no minimum age requirement for the term whiskey in the USA (only 'straight' rye whiskey must be aged for a minimum of two years) so don't be misled by the label's, "Stored in New Oak Less Than Four Years" - the key words here being "less than". However, Tuthilltown uses unusually small oak casks which affect the spirit's flavour more quickly and differently to full-size barrels.
