Often mistakenly confused for the better-known and similarly labelled Pannepot from the same brewers (De Struise), Pannepeut is a Belgian strong ale.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 05/06/2012

Appearance

(bbd A-4-016) Hazy, reddy dark brown (almost black) with thin but lasting beige head.

Aroma

Heavily toasted malts, liquorice, caramel, Demerara sugar and raisins.

Taste

Bitter-sweet, heavily caramel - burnt crème brûlée malty palate with raison fruit and subtle nutmeg spice.

Aftertaste

Burnt, slightly bitter fruitcake crust. High alcohol content while obvious is not overpowering.
