Construction work on this beers original brewery in Smíchov commenced in October 1869 with the first brew started 1st May 1871. In 1913 the brewery trademarked the name Staropramen, meaning ‘old spring’. Staropramen is still brewed in Prague from barley and hops with a 70 day maturation period.

Appearance:

Clear, coppery amber with one finger white head which quickly fades to thick ring of foam.

Aroma:

Baguette crust malt with grassy hops.

Taste:

Crisp and clean, lightly grainy cereal with mild hops and faint lemon zestyness.

Aftertaste:

Lightly bitter crispy bread crust with faint metallic note.
