This amber ale is brewed in the Flanders tradition of using mainly Pils or moderately kilned malts and a form of corn, this La Roja blend is left to age in its barrels for 2 to 10 months. Blend 5 is bottled without filtration or pasteurisation.

Appearance:

(bottled 27-May-10) Cloudy, reddy brown amber with lasting thick two finger head an heavy lacing.

Aroma:

Sour fruit, dark cherries with fermenting raspberries and piny oak.

Taste:

Tart, acidic sour, fruit, with sweet bready base and cider vinegar.

Aftertaste:

Fruity, sour finish with slight smokiness and resinous pine. Beware, aficionados will relish while the uninitiated may find unpalatable.
