Part of the original brewery line up at the Black Sheep Brewery when established in 1992. It is made from Maris Otter malted barley and a higher concentrate of Crystal Malt than Best Bitter, so explaining the darker colour. The hops used include Challenger and Progress with Goldings most prominent.

Appearance:

Clear, dark copper amber with moderate white head and lacing.

Aroma:

Biscuity malt with caramel, brown sugar, grassy hops and bubblegum.

Taste:

Moderately bitter with forward maltyness, dried fruit, clove spice and crispy bacon and toasted walnuts.

Aftertaste:

Sherry like dried fruit and nuttiness with lingering burnt raison bitterness.
