Domaine du Tariquet, one of the Armagnac regions leading producers, launched its Eau-de-Vie de Folle Blanche (named after its grape variety) in 2004. Following this, in 2006, an unaged Blanche Armagnac AOC was officially created so Tariquit’s ‘Eau-de-Vie de Folle Blanche’ is now ‘Blanche Armagnac’.

Due to being difficult to cultivate and its susceptibility to mildew, Folle Blanche now only represents less than 5% of the vineyards of the Armagnac Appellation. Château du Tariquet boasts an impressive 25 hectares of Folle Blanche vines.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 24/03/2013

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Clean and pungent pear with subtle honeydew melon and toasted almond.

Taste:

Fabulously clean with delicate apple, pear and grape notes, faint floral rose and spirity black pepper.

Aftertaste:

Toast and linseed oil with lingering peppery spiced. Ideal as a characterful white base spirit in cocktails in place of pisco, cachaça or even vodka.
