Billed as being “the world’s most expensive rum” (US$25,000), Legacy was released in 2012 to celebrate 50 years of Trinidad & Tobago’s independence. A blend of 7 rums, the youngest being 17 years old, married and finished in a first-fill ex-bourbon barrel and presented in an Asprey crystal decanter.
Just 20 decanters of the hand-blown crystal decanters were made by Asprey of London, each presented in a red calf leather wrapped, silk-lined wooden case. The decanter itself is elegant and understated but this is topped by an ornate sterling silver stopper depicting a butterfly on a cane leaf. (The decanter is sealed with a driven cork for shipping.)
