Absinthe Brevans HR Giger is the first Absinthe in a series from Matter-Luginbühl based on recipes from the 1897 book "La fabrication des liqueurs" by J. de Brevans. Free of sugar and artificial flavours. Coloured with natural chlorophyll so liable to fade and change from batch to batch.
The label (Absinthe Art Edition 4) features a work 'Brain Salad Surgery II' by Hans Rudolf Giger, a Swiss surrealist artist. The model for the work was Giger's then-wife Li Tobler, depicted with 'alien' hair and a scar from a frontal lobotomy. The work, along with Giger's Brain Salad Surgery I, were famously used on the album cover of Emerson Lake & Palmer's Brain Salad Surgery album.
The two original acrylic-on-paper paintings 'Work No. 217 ELP I' and 'Work No. 218 ELP II' were stolen in 2005 after a Giger retrospective at the National Technical Museum in Prague.
(Recommended dilution ratio 1:2 to 1:5.)

Clear, pale grassy green. With water louches milky pale green.
Minty menthol, grass on a warm compost heap with liquorice and fennel. Water changes to more straight forward fennel and aniseed.
A spicy absinthe with pronounced slightly bitter herbal note.
Spicy notes linger on the fennel rich finish.
