In common with New Mexico’s highest mountain, this gin is named after explorer and cartographer George Wheeler. Based on maize, Wheeler’s Western Dry Gin is “Distilled with indigenous Southwest Botanicals” including hop flowers, osha root, magenta flowers.
Sampled on 15/05/2015
Crystal clear.
Pungent rosemary and sage with linseed oil putty, basil, subdued pine, camphor and menthol juniper. Faint notes of lavender.
Sage continues but with more pronounced pine and black pepper spice.
Black pepper, pine and sage with lingering nutty and mushroomy angelica root.
Boldly flavoured. Herbal sage and angelica root feature heavily with comparatively subdued juniper.
