Launched in September 2015 and named after the basket traditionally used to sow seeds, Seedlip is a blend of six non-alcoholic botanical distillates made from two barks, two spices and two citrus peels. Seedlip does not contain alcohol or sugar.
Five of the botanicals: American oak, Guatemalan cardamom, Jamaican allspice berries, Bahamian Cascarilla bark and Turkish grapefruit are individually distilled in a copper still with water and a small amount of alcohol at a vinegar distillery in Germany. The sixth ingredient, lemon peel, is a steam-extracted essence known as a 'hydrolat' made in a stainless steel still at source in Argentina.

Crystal clear.
Pungent cardamom dominates with nutmeg, cola-like aromas, woody spice and faint citrus zest.
Bone dry and faintly bitter with a thin mouthfeel. Pervasive cardamom with clove and lemon zest. Subtle notes of nutmeg and cinnamon.
Surprisingly long finish with cardamom and clove.
My love of alcohol may make me bias and obviously this would be so much better with some ethanol. However, Seedlip and tonic (with a lot less than I'd pour if gin) is surprisingly palatable when holding the car keys.
