Released 29th September, this was BrewDog’s last seasonal released of 2016. The brewers describe Candy Kaiser as “our Northern German retro Altbier – a BrewDog take on one of the formative styles of European brewing – and it is a celebration of the art of the maltster.

(sample bot best before 18/Sep/17) Clear, deep coppery mahogany with retentive off-white head and thick lacing.
Rye bread malt and caramel with chocolate, vinous fruit and sultana.
Medium-bodied. Subtly chocolaty with nutty rye bread and lightly bitter piney hops.
Dry and lightly bitter with chocolate and raisin bread.
A good but not great Altbier with nutty rye bread, subtle chocolate and some vinous and sultana fruit.
