Review and Tasting

Sampled on 02/11/2017

Appearance:

Clear and transparent but with a very fine sediment coating base of the bottle which forms smoke-like wisps when the bottle is agitated.

Aroma:

Piney juniper, floral parma violets, fresh coriander, white pepper and zesty citrus with candied orange, lemongrass and faint ginger.

Taste:

Dry with juniper to the fore and pronounced spice, pleasing sweet orange and nutty woodiness (perhaps from generous use of angelica root).

Aftertaste:

Dry piney juniper and zesty citrus.

Overall:

Classically styled dry gin with zesty orange and lemon citrus, pronounced spice, and faint floral parma violets. Like the eponymous animal this is a big gin with bold flavours. Sadly, our sample bottle of Silverback was let down by a fine sediment leading to questions around if this arose from additives added after distillation?
