Like Campfire Gin, this navy strength version is made with 10 botanicals: juniper, orris, coriander, angelica, rooibos, roasted hazelnut, golden berry, fresh orange peel, fresh grapefruit peel and lavender, although the distillers say "we've upped the quantities, and smashed them around a bit,

Looking to eek out every ounce of flavour and aroma to balance the heady 57% ABV."

The botanicals are macerated for 24 hours in UK produced neutral wheat spirit and then removed from the still (a 50 litre still called Isabella) prior to distillation.

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Peppery spirituous aromas slightly mast the scent of underlying piney juniper, fruit rooibos, nutty angelica and zesty citrus.

Taste:

There is an attractive sweetness before this gin's punch kicks in, but robust sweet citrus notes are present throughout.

Aftertaste:

Obvious and expected long lingering spirituous peppery spice is accompanied with dry piney juniper, a delicate rooty bitterness and more sweet citrus.

Overall:

This is a huge but balanced Navy Gin with both an alcoholic strength and robustness befitting the term.
