Review and Tasting

Sampled on 10/11/2019

Appearance:

Clear, golden amber.

Aroma:

Cereal, dried fruit, coal dust and clove spice with wisps of smoke. Water reveals rich vanilla and amplifies dried fruit.

Taste:

Initially sweet and fruity before coal dust, dry oak tannins, smoke and spice explode onto the palate. Water amplifies spice and orchard fruits. Takes water well.

Aftertaste:

White pepper spice, coal dust, wood smoke and peat.

Overall:

Precocious, huge and delicious. Cotswolds fruity new-make suits the oak, spice and peaty smoke imparted by quarter cask ageing. This whisky may be young but it boasts a well-developed personality.
