Cotswolds English new make spirit is hydrated to 63.5% alc./vol. before filling Scottish ex-peated quarter casks. Bottled at cask strength without chill-filtration or added colour.
Sampled on 10/11/2019
Clear, golden amber.
Cereal, dried fruit, coal dust and clove spice with wisps of smoke. Water reveals rich vanilla and amplifies dried fruit.
Initially sweet and fruity before coal dust, dry oak tannins, smoke and spice explode onto the palate. Water amplifies spice and orchard fruits. Takes water well.
White pepper spice, coal dust, wood smoke and peat.
Precocious, huge and delicious. Cotswolds fruity new-make suits the oak, spice and peaty smoke imparted by quarter cask ageing. This whisky may be young but it boasts a well-developed personality.
