This forty year old geriatric bottling made from casks dating from the late 1960s was introduced to Highland Park’s core range as a permanent addition rather than a limited availability curio in September 2009.

Packaged in a bespoke, decanter-styled, glass bottle resplendent with a handcrafted pewter ‘H’ amulette reflecting Orkney’s Viking heritage. The bottle is presented in a stained oak box complete with hand-produced leather bound booklet.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 06/06/2011

Appearance:

Deep amber with golds and hints of ruby.

Aroma:

Deep, rich and warm. Fades to linseed oil and macadamia nut finishing with a touch of bramley apple (cooked in a pie).

Taste:

Like the nose, the palate has a big flavour with rich, warm fruits, dark chocolate with bitter orange peel (slight flint going to sulphur?) and green olive notes.

Aftertaste:

Flavours swing from sweet to dry and back to sweet.
