Distilled in Tequila Valley in Jalisco, Mexico and shipped to Scotland where it was aged for 14 months in American oak barrels previously used to mature Speyside single malt Scotch whisky.
Sampled on 23/11/2020
Clear, golden amber.
Toasty oak, hazelnut and walnut with vanilla fudge and freshly chopped red pepper.
Dry and nutty with salty peppery spice, fresh red pepper and toasty vanilla oak.
Spicy, salty nutty oak finish and lingering vanilla and caramel
Maturation in Scotch whisky seasoned oak does indeed add to the story and character of this tequila with its distinctive nuttiness. 14 months is a good period in hot days and cool nights of Mexico but is a relatively short period in Scotland where 4 years in cask is the accepted minimum. With this in mind, we look forward to the release of Storywood 48.
