The name of this rum is a reference to when Grenada’s rum was shipped to His Majesty George III of England. Casks of the King’s rum were marked G.R.O.G., an abbreviation of Georgius Rex Old Grenada. This molasses based rum is a blend of 4-10 year old rums aged in American oak ex-whiskey casks.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 08/11/2010

Appearance

Light golden in colour.

Aroma

Very fruity nose with strong hints of apricot brandy and a touch of vanillin.

Taste

An equally fruity medium bodied palate (perhaps due to addition of fruit during blending?) with sweet apricot and almond notes.

Aftertaste

The palate quickly turns bitter and the finish ends with hot crushed black pepper.
