Launched in 1959, Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle was the first multi-vintage prestige cuvée champagne. A blend of Laurent-Perrier's best vintage years and best crus from twelve of the most prestigious villages, Grand Siècle is made with a pinot noir and chardonnay, the latter being slightly dominant.
The blended wine is aged during the second fermentation on the yeast for approximately five years.
Grand Siècle takes its name from Louis XIV of France whose patronage of the arts led him to become known as the ‘Sun King’. Louis XIV's reign (1643 – 1715) became known as the Grand Siècle - the ‘Great Century’. Appropriately, Laurent-Perrier’s Grand Siecle is presented in a replica of a 17th Century bottle.
