Aurum is distilled from sweet aromatic oranges, grown in Abruzzo, which are blended with brandy, herbs and fruit, then aged in oak casks. The pale gold colour is partly due to the use of saffron, and the name (Latin for ‘gold’) was given by the poet, libertine and revolutionary Gabriele d’Annunzio.
The distinctive bottle shape is based on a wine flask excavated at Pompei.
