Review

Bad Juju Tiki Bar it says on the door, but the tiki is actually pretty restrained compared to Mahiki or Trader Vic's, say, and about half of it is covered in graffiti - hardly typical of the South Seas and neither exactly what you'd automatically associate with the black magic suggested by the name. That said, there are enough puffer fish lights and Easter Island statues on the back-bar to transport you away from the Midlands for a while.

It's a small place, on a little side street with a small entrance just next door to a Nottingham's tired old Revolution vodka bar. We know what our choice between the two would be: Bad Juju's menu offers up a range of grogs, daiquiris, punches, Mai Tais (both Donn Beach and Trader Vic's versions), sharing drinks, covering long and fruity, creamy, and shorter and stiffer drinks. We tried drinks at both ends of the spectrum and they were all well-made. There's also a range of classic cocktails.

Fun, friendly and with its tongue firmly in its cheek.
