An old-Fashioned with a splash of rum and port in place of sugar syrup. I favour tawny port, but if you've a sweet tooth, then use ruby port

This is truly a drink worth experimenting with until you've balanced it to your own taste. Perhaps a rum with a high ester content makes all the difference, or the right ratio. I also see it as a candidate that might not need ice in the glass, but could benefit from a cherry as a garnish.
