The Vaults

Look out for the bright red door, descend a flight of stairs, and you’ll find yourself in the underground vaults. Turn left for the restaurant, or right for the bar – a long corridor with curtained alcoves running off the sides.

If you’re planning to go on a Friday or Saturday night, and you want a booth, then you’ll have to book one in advance – and pay extra for the luxury. The only downside of The Vaults is that so many people have found out what a good bar it is. If you want to soak up the experience without the crowds, then try and go at the start of the week instead.

The main bar is at the end of the corridor. It’s situated in a large space which can accommodate a lot of people standing up - even with the grand piano in the corner. The decor is kept to a minimum, so the focus is on the open brick walls and the cocktails themselves – all well balanced and served with a smile.
