Walk in past the topical fish and the Magna-style red-headed chick grasping her crutch while simultaneously holding a fish – remember there’s often a hidden meaning to contemporary art.

In a bar world so dominated by subdued prohibition-style interiors it is perhaps refreshing to find a bold alternative. Very bold. Don your shades as in this psychedelic rollercoaster of a bar practically every surface is painted, the walls with murals and polka dots, the floor with stripes and the bar with flowers. The light shades look as though they’re made of spun sugar and there’s even Mickey Mouse mural as you descend the stairs to the second bar in the basement. The gloss white bar top is mirrored in the wipe-clean white ‘pleather’ seating.
Despite this design mayhem our drinks were delicious - well made and perfectly balanced. We went for classics and they tasted like they should. No mean feat these days.
Walrus is set over two floors and is packed to the rafters over the busy nights.
