Part of club operator Privé Group, The Common Room is a fairly substantial affair that describes itself as a gastrobar majoring on cocktails - although, thanks to that 4am license, there's a lot more drinking than eating happens most nights.
A long bar backed with cast iron and glass cabinets showcases the liquids on offer in the sleek clean space, though there's a cluster of smaller rooms for dining and an outside terrace too. This is a buzzy, popular good-time bar that takes its drinks seriously but can still knock them out even when it's rammed with coolly black-clad locals.
There's a pleasingly short menu of classics and signature drinks plus a handful of non-alcoholic cocktails. A Quinine Mary, from the Signature List, was a refreshing blend of gin, lemon, rosemary syrup, cucumber and tonic: a blazing sprig of rosemary as a garnish added aromatics as well as theatre.
