Rotterdam's Hotel New York is housed in the former office building of the Holland-America Line, a glorious landmark built in 1901. Nestling in the basement, you'll find the hotel's fine dining restaurant and its bar, which happily is open to no-hotel residents.

Early in the evening, this basement is more restaurant than bar, but as the night draws on and the diners leave, it transforms into one of the best bars in Rotterdam.
Behind the long pewter-topped bar counter, you'll find the brilliant Annachiara Torti and the Basement Crew, in our experience, a very hospitable and able bar team.
