Between the Electric Cinema and the Electric Brasserie hides the entrance to this Notting Hill sibling of Soho House. It is also owned by Nick Jones and also a private members’ club.
A staircase, wrapped around a lift shaft, leads to the main members’ bar and restaurant. This long, loft style room with its pitched ceiling and roof lights houses a lounge bar at the front and a dining room and open kitchen at the rear. The look is seventies, with whitewashed walls, chunky pale teak tables and industrial style light fittings.
The stairs continue past the glass-backed projection room of the cinema and The Study, a private dining or meeting room, to The Playroom. This has its own corner bar, plasma screen and door to a small roof terrace of wooden decking.
This haven attracts celebrities and moneyed media types who enjoy well made cocktails, well selected wines and modern British comfort food.
