Missoni is the first hotel from the eponymous Italian fashion house, until now better known for its knitwear than its hotel and catering operations. Bar Missoni is the main feature directly ahead of you as you walk into the hotel's entrance.
This hotel has five star aspirations so the decor is suitably swanky, and in keeping with Missoni's clothing designs, very modern in style with bold colours set against simple two-tone designs. Being an island bar there is plenty of bar counter to perch at in addition to the deep-set, booth-style banquettes.
Thanks to Craig and his team, what this bar may lack in practicalities, it makes up for with fabulous drinks and friendly service. The cocktail menu is laid out with classics, such as the Bellini, opposite the hotel?s own modern interpretations. In keeping with the Italian theme there is a good range of grappa, Italian liqueurs, amaro, vermouth and a 188 bin, all-Italian wine list. Incredibly there is also prosecco on draught, dispensed through beer fonts from 25 litre barrels.
Style and substance coupled with great service. I just wish there was a back bar.
