Review

If you are a rugby or beer fan then this pub, known to its regulars as the Sloany Pony is the kinda of pub you'll be sure to like. Highly regarded for its broad beer selection, the White Horse also deserves praise for its food.

An old coaching inn in, The White Horse sits in a prime position on the tip of Parson's Green with a large umbrella covered terrace overlooking the green. This is a big and loud but distinctly upmarket boozer. The huge central bar is surrounded by leather banquette seating and tables but between the two is a wide hinterland to accommodate the throng of standing drinkers, particularly on match days. The walls and display shelves house beer and rugby memorabilia as reminders of what this pub is best known for.

The beer offering sees six to eight ever-changing cask ales on hand-pump from breweries all over the country and a supporting line-up of 135 bottled brews from some of the world's most notable breweries. The more concise wine list stretches to 20 wines by the glass.

Bar snacks range from salt and pepper squid to sausage roll and HP Sauce while the full menu offers modern British hearty meals served in fit for a prop forward. The pub's summer barbeques are legendary. Function rooms and private dining rooms are available for everything from a business meeting to a wedding.
