Croft Pink is the first rosé port, a style of port developed by the House of Croft in 2008 with the aim of appealing to younger consumers and the on-trade.
The fortified wine itself is made in the same way as 'regular' red Port but with a lot less time in contact with the grape skins before then being made like a white port with a long, cool ferment.
Sampled on 14/11/2011
Clear, light red rather than rose.
Vanilla red fruit nose - reminiscent of raspberry ripple ice-cream, with chocolate and cherry aromas.
Light, intensely fruity (cranberry, raspberry, blackberry), slightly sweet palate with dark chocolate and white pepper.
Fruity, cream of soda and black pepper finish.
