Smokehead is a single malt from Islay, but from which distillery it is sourced is a well-kept secret, although rumours of Lagavulin and Caol Ila abound. What we do know is that it’s sourced and bottled by Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd.
Sampled on 08/09/2013
Clear, pale to mid golden yellow.
Smoky lapsang souchong tea and cereal with coal tar, creosote and ginger spice.
Smoky peat, sherry sweetness, creamy cereal and iodine with salty vanilla fudge and cracked black pepper spice.
Long lingering smoky and cracked black pepper heat smoothed by vanilla.
