Launched in June 2026, Cointreau Spicy is a flavoured expression of the leading triple sec brand, combining Cointreau's signature sweet and bitter orange distillates with chilli spice.

Created with cocktails, particularly the Spicy Margarita, in mind, Cointreau Spicy offers a way to introduce chilli heat without adding fresh chillies or spicy liqueurs/syrups.

Cointreau Spicy Margarita
This simple recipe works!
40ml (1⅓oz) Reposado tequila
30ml (1oz) Cointreau Spicy
22.5ml (¾oz) Lime juice
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into ice-filled glass.

Appearance:

Clear and bright, golden amber.

Aroma:

Fragrant, freshly scratched orange zest with delicate, vegetal chilli pepper and a dusting of spice.

Taste:

An initial burst of sweet, zesty orange is quickly followed and by assertive chilli spice and heat.

Aftertaste:

Lingering chilli heat with underlying sweet, zesty orange.

Overall:

Cointreau Spicy presents an opportunity to swap out or partially replace a triple sec in any classic or contemporary cocktail, introducing chilli spice alongside triple sec's zesty orange notes. Spicy Corpse Reviver No. 2 anyone? With this in mind, it's a shame this "Special Edition" is bottled at 30% alc./vol., rather than the 40% I expect of a 'proper' triple sec liqueur.
