This turquoise-blue gin, marketed as "The Original Blue Gin" was originally named ‘The London Gin’ in deference to its being distilled at London’s Thames Distillery. However, due to the addition of colour/flavour post distillation, E.U. spirits regulations precluded the use of the term ‘London Gin’.
Made with English grain neutral spirit redistilled with 12 botanicals: juniper, liquorice, orris root, cinnamon, almond, bergamot, savory, coriander, angelica root, cassia, lemon peel and orange peel.
Sampled on 18/11/2013
Clear, very pale turquoise-blue.
Pungent, camphor, pine and cracked black pepper with citrus, overripe banana, hop-like celery, chewing gum (Dentine), cinnamon and soapy nutty aromas.
The high alcohol content is very evident with spicy black pepper and zingy pine.
Peppery pine, eucalyptus and chewing gum-like flavours.
