La Fee Bohemian Absinthe (70%)

alc./vol: 70%

Proof: 140°

Vintage: Non-vintage

Aged: Unaged

La Fée Absinth Bohemian is a modern Bohemian-style absinth [note the missing 'e' in the Czech spelling of absinth], capturing the essence of the Velvet Revolution of 1989. It is especially suited for use in cocktails due to its low anise content.

In creating La Fée Bohemian, George Rowley set out to correct an authentic Czech absinthe and he referenced recipes from the 1890s he found in the air-conditioned vaults of Schimmel Library, Europe's oldest and most authoritative collection of works on herbalism.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 06/12/2010

Appearance:

Clear, aquamarine. Does not turn cloudy when water is added (as is usual for a Czech absinth).

Aroma:

Medicinal herbal nose.

Taste:

Very subtle aniseed flavour compared to its French counterpart. Its bold palate has spicy notes and subtle undertones of chamomile, fennel and mint.

Aftertaste:

Reminiscent of Night Nurse medicine, but in a nice way.
