This revered Highland malt (Jim Murray's "World Whisky of the Year 2012") is a blend of Old Pulteney mostly aged in refill bourbon casks and some ex-sherry casks made from American Oak (mostly Fino sherries).
Sampled on 05/12/2011
Clear, pale golden.
Intriguing salty, floral and citrus nose with faint wafts of smoke and sticky doughy current buns with caramelised dark brown tops.
Complex and tightly integrated salt 'n' pepper dusted vanilla and honey palate with generous malt and subtle floral flavours.
Spices linger on the slightly salty very long finish.
