Launched in 1989, just two years later this new brand achieved sales of 840,000 bottles in Venezuela alone. Diplomatico Reserva is blended from 50 per cent continuous and 50 per cent pot still rums and is aged for up to eight years.

Apart from a little caramel for colour correction no sweeteners or other flavouring are added.

Appearance:

Clear, chestnut brown.

Aroma:

Pancake, Chinese plum sauce, vanilla and tarragon spice nose.

Taste:

Palate with banana oils, espresso coffee, bitter chocolate and dried prunes.

Aftertaste:

Dry mocha coffee finish with slight saltiness.
