Passoã is the world's leading passion fruit liqueur and famously was used as a key ingredient by Douglas Ankrah when he created his popular Porn Star Martini in 2002. Passoã can add a passion fruit twist and an attractive red hue to any cocktail.

Passoã's distinctive matt black bottle features a brightly coloured tropical motif of palm trees suggesting its tropical fruity sweet taste.

Launched in 1986 and originally 20% alc./vol., Passoã's remains this strength in the USA but (since 2005) in the rest of the world Passoã is 17% alc./vol..

As the label says, Passoã is made "with real passion fruit" (2% reconstituted passionfruit juice from Brazil) and natural passionfruit flavour (0.9%). Other ingredients include water, alcohol, sugar, acidification regulator E331 acid, citric acid, stabilizer E445, and colours E122 and E102. Passoã contains no artificial flavours.

Appearance:

Cloudy, lurid bright carmine pinky red.

Aroma:

Fragrant, passionfruit hard candy boiled sweets, children's medicine and grapefruit zest.

Taste:

Lightly syrupy and honeyed with sweetness balanced by citric acidity. Cooked passionfruit, zesty grapefruit and cherry.

Aftertaste:

Passionfruit and grapefruit zest with lingering citric acidity.

Overall:

Balanced passionfruit and grapefruit, with a shot of acidity balancing a lightly syrupy texture, a touch of cherries and honeyed citrus.
