Passoã is a passionfruit flavoured liqueur launched in the Netherlands in 1986. The matt black Passoã bottle features a brightly coloured tropical motif of palm trees suggesting its tropical fruit taste.
Originally 20% alc./vol., Passoã's alcohol strength was reduced to 17% in 2005.
The label boasts "with real passion fruit" and this refers to "reconstituted passionfruit juice from Brazil (2%) and "natural passionfruit flavour" amongst ingredients which include: "water, alcohol, sugar, acidify regulator E331 acid, citric acid, stabilizer E445, colours E122 and E102.

Appearance:
Cloudy, lurid bright carmine pinky red.
Aroma:
Fragrant, passionfruit hard candy boiled sweets, children's medicine and grapefruit zest.
Taste:
Lightly syrupy and honeyed with sweetness balanced by citric acidity. Cooked passionfruit, zesty grapefruit and cherry.
Aftertaste:
Passionfruit and grapefruit zest with lingering citric acidity.
Overall:
Balanced passionfruit and grapefruit, with a shot of acidity balancing a lightly syrupy texture, a touch of cherries and honeyed citrus.
