This Swiss liqueur is flavoured with edelweiss, a small white flower found high in the Alps, perhaps best known for lending its name to the show tune from the 1959 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, The Sound of Music.
Edelweiss (Edelweiß) in German means noble and white, and this short lived perennial plant is generally found at altitudes from 1700 meters to 2700 meters.

In 2000, Christian Borel-Jaquet, a natural products chemist and pharmacist teamed up with Stephen Keller, spirits specialist to create this liqueur.
