Taketsuru 17-Years-Old is a vatted Japanese malt whisky, blended using single malts from Nikka's Yoichi and Miyagikyo Distilleries. Named in honour of Masataka Taketsuru, one of the two founders of the Japanese whisky industry and the founder of Nikka, the company which produces this "pure malt".

The Taketsuru brand was launched in 1934.

Appearance:

Clear, deep amber.

Aroma:

Ever so delicately smoked cigar box fruity nose with eucalyptus and vanilla.

Taste:

Full bodied fruity, salt and pepper majestically oaked palate with liquorice, vanilla, honey and a wisp of smoke.

Aftertaste:

Vanilla and mocha coffee with lingering spicy oak.
