Established by the owners of an ostrich farm with an interest in craft brewing, their brewing company is named after the old Flemish word for ostrich, which also is a contemporary slang term meaning ‘tough’.

(2011 production. BBD June-2014) Cloudy, chestnut reddish brown with moderately thick but lasting head with heavy lacing.
Nutty caramel, yeasty bread, toffee apple fruit, sour cherry and grassy hops with faint boat yard varnish.
Nutty malty palate with toffee apple, liquorice and mixed herbs.
Lingering fruity alcohol, toffee and spice.
